Preparations Begin for the Um Marahi Agricultural Project in Abu Hujar Locality

Engineer Mohammed Siddig, Director of Irrigated Projects at the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in Sennar State, announced that preparations have begun for the new agricultural season at the Um Marahi Agricultural Project in Abu Hujar Locality, with plans to cultivate 1,000 feddans.

Siddig revealed that work is currently underway to improve the electricity transmission line in order to address power shortages affecting the operation of the irrigation pump. He also confirmed that preparations for land cultivation using tractors have already begun, in preparation for the start of farming operations on June 15, 2026, with plans to grow cotton.

The Director of Irrigated Projects stated that the Um Marahi Agricultural Project operates under an investment partnership with Al-Kobani Company, which is responsible for providing the farmers with a full water supply.

He emphasized that his administration is working around the clock to ensure the success of the agricultural season across the irrigated projects.
